The 2011 season of the IPL will begin with defending champions Chennai Super Kings taking on Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The preliminary schedule released by the BCCI has the ten franchises playing at 13 venues over 51 days. The schedule may undergo changes keeping in view the state assembly elections to be held in a number of the host venues.
The Indian board has also said that the four play-off games after the league stage - as per the revised format announced last year - will be split evenly between the Wankhede Stadium and the MA Chidambaram Stadium, with Chennai hosting the final on May 28.
The finalists and the losing team from the third play-off match will qualify for the Champions League Twenty20 2011.
At the very last chance to test their combination before the World Cup, India will field their full-strength batting line-up in a 50-over game for the first time in 15 months. The batsmen had faltered against Australia on Sunday but will be bolstered by the return of Sachin Tendulkar against New Zealand.
Tendulkar had missed that warm-up game because of a niggle but will play on Wednesday, in what will be his third one-day match since his double-century against South Africa in Gwalior a year ago. He had a long batting session on Tuesday morning during India's practice, and also spent time working on his fielding, showing no signs of the hamstring injury that forced him to return home midway through the one-day series in South Africa a month ago.
Tendulkar will displace Gautam Gambhir from the top of the order to No. 3, the position at which Virat Kohli had much of his recent success. Kohli's form swept him to second spot in the ICC one-day rankings, but even that hasn't ensured him a place in the starting line-up. Wednesday's game will give Kohli a chance to show his prowess lower down the order, perhaps at No .6, a position where another contender, Suresh Raina, is considered a better bet. .
They're not the glamour boys of world cricket, but New Zealand have a habit of lifting their game in major tournaments. They are five-time World Cup semi-finalists, and despite being well down the ODI rankings, they reached the final of the Champions Trophy in 2009, losing to Australia when they couldn't stop Shane Watson's century. Since then they have lost Shane Bond to retirement, but retain many of the same personnel for the World Cup.

Piyush Chawla: "It's a great feeling. When I started to bowl in the first Powerplay, the ball was turning and I knew if I bowled well, there was something for the spinners here. The way Watson was batting .. it was a good catch for me and the team. The wicket of Ferguson was most satisfying. I had gully and slips and I was mixing things up. My place in the eleven will depend on things. We have quite a few good spinners. If the pitch is slow and helps spinners, I will have a good chance to make it."

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 tournament is about to begin the Asian continent jointly hosted by Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka starting from 19 Feb 2011 with 1st match to be played between India and Bangladesh and finals at Mumbai, India on 02 April 2011. This is the biggest tournament of cricket and this time Indian team are hot favorites and will be under pressure to play under home conditions. England middle order batsman batsman Ravi Bopara has been called up to replace Eoin Morgan in England's World Cup squad after Morgan was ruled out of the tournament with a broken finger.
Morgan suffered the injury during the fourth One-Day International in Australia and it denies him the chance to play at his second World Cup, having played for Ireland in 2007.
He is replaced by Bopara, who is now due to fly back to England from the West Indies, where is currently involved in the England Lions' four-day first-class campaign in the West Indies.
Bopara played in the 2007 World Cup, helping England reach the Super Eight stage before they were unable to progress any further.
He has played 54 ODIs and was named in England's 30-man provisional squad for the tournament in January.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that its event technical committee has approved Bopara as Morgan's replacement.
England begin their campaign when they play the Netherlands on 22nd February in Nagpur. Beforehand, they take on Canada and Pakistan in warm-up matches on 16th and 18th February.

Kolkata's the Eden Gardens cricket ground is on course to host three World Cup matches after the International Cricket Council (ICC) said it was pleased with progress made.
The ground lost its opening match, between England and India, but if scheduled renovation work is completed on time, it will be able to host three matches in March.
A three-person ICC inspection team visited the ground on Monday 7th February and was satisfied that outstanding work will be completed in time for the matches.
“We are pleased with the progress made since January 25 and if that pace of work is maintained, we believe that the stadium will be ready for the games scheduled in March," ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat said.
